"The purpose of
the Inter-American Investment Corporation shall be to promote the economic
development of its regional developing member countries by encouraging the establishment,
expansion, and modernization of private enterprises, preferably those that
are small and medium- scale, in such a way as to supplement the activities
of the Inter-American Development Bank ..." (IIC Charter, Article 1, Section 1).
The achievement of the
Corporation's objectives rests entirely on the talent, resourcefulness, and
commitment of the Corporation's staff, and on the institution's
determination to create and foster a climate supportive of such elements. The Corporation views its employees as an
integral and essential part of its growth and success, and this view is
reflected in a personnel system designed to foster initiative, productivity
and individual growth.
The human resources
policies, therefore, seek to forge an institutional culture in which staff
development, accountability, and performance evaluation rules are
explicitly clear to create an environment that gives the institution the
flexibility it needs to adapt to its target markets.

Remuneration
Structure
IIC
Salaries are grade-based, where grades correspond to the different levels
of responsibility and complexity in each position. The salary scale
consists of thirteen grades, each with a minimum, midpoint, and maximum
salary range for each grade. The midpoint for each salary range reflects
the market average for similar position.
Methodology
The
IIC performs annual compa-ratio analysis based on
the salary scale approved by the Inter-American Investment
Corporation. This analysis compares
current salaries for each grade with the midpoint of the approved salary
scale. A compa-ratio of 100 means that salaries
are on par with the midpoint and, therefore, with the market.
