Dear Mr. Chairman:
Pursuant to the provisions of Article IV, Section 9(a) of the Agreement Establishing
the Inter-American Investment Corporation, I transmit to you the Annual Report
of the Corporation for 2000 and the audited financial statements, including
the balance sheet, income and retained earnings statement, and cash flow statement
for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2000.
The Corporation is receiving the first installments of its capital increase
and has made the organizational changes requested by its member countries for
the productive deployment of this new funding over the next ten years to the
benefit of the region's small and medium-size enterprises. The strengthened
Corporation will increase its contribution to the achievement of the IDB Group's
objectives, making optimum use of the expertise of its professional staff in
the design, evaluation, and execution of projects that have a private sector
focus.
